Canon: Kenta Connery is from after the Knightmare Heist chapters of Magic Kaito. His father was Jack Connery - unknown to the boy, also the 'Knightmare', the 'Bad Horse'.

Kenta's father died trying to take down the Knightmare, having fallen from a roof, slipped through the grasp of the Kaitou Kid in favour of the jewels taken during the Kid's heist. Kenta unwittingly caused this by calling out for his father, making the man lose his balance. Kid then used his card gun to shoot the mask away from Connery's face, to preserve his father's image for Kenta.

Except that this also takes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe - namely that the events in the Avengers movies have already happened, as well as (for the purposes of this AU) the X-Men trilogy.

How this affects Kenta is so - he is somewhat older than he is in canon. Since he looks around six or seven in the story he's in, I'd say that makes him about nine here. The other - rather major - thing is that Kenta's disease, which he had been holding back with medicine before his father could afford the surgery, isn't, in fact, a disease. It's a mutation, such as the ones Xavier's school was founded for... and the effects would have shown themselves a lot earlier, if not for the medicine which he's still taking...
